Everything in this trade flows from one constraint: air doesn’t wait. Redundancy isn’t a luxury option, it’s the default design. Cutovers happen at night, between newscasts, while programming runs on the backup path. And equipment gets chosen as much for reliability as for specs — a spectacular box that freezes once a month has no place in an on-air chain.
