What we do with Blackmagic Design

Blackmagic covers a good part of a production chain: switchers, routing, conversion, keying, recording. We use it where the capability-to-price ratio lets us deliver a complete system on budgets that wouldn’t have worked otherwise — a community channel, a podcast studio, a mobile control room.

What decides the outcome isn’t the brand: it’s the integration. A chain assembled without a clear routing plan becomes impossible to troubleshoot on a live night. We design so that someone other than us can understand the system.

Live keying

Ultimatte does clean real-time keying — that’s what lets a virtual set go on air with no post. We integrate it with the render engines and the cameras, and tune the whole thing against the stage lighting. A good keyer on a bad green screen saves nothing.

“Does it hold up in continuous production?” It holds when the integration and power design follow. We have chains running continuous broadcast for years. The weak point is almost never the box: it’s power, cooling or cabling.

“Does it mix with our broadcast gear?” Yes, with the right conversion. It’s often the way to extend an existing system instead of replacing it.
